1904 - Kew Wood Yard Invoice
Michael and Margaret Carrucan (Michael was the fourth child of Peter Carrucan and Hannah Woods) settled in Kew and started a small business called ' M Carrucan Fuel & Produce Merchant. This grew into a large enterprise supplying wood, coal, coke, sawn timber, chaff and grain, sand, gravel, etc. The business thrived in the expanding Melbourne of the early twentieth century and finally closed its doors in the late 1950's, a victim of the changing face of Melbourne's fuel economy. This invoice, from 1904, shows the letterhead in the early days of the business.
