1945ish - Betty Carrucan - portrait as a young teacher

Elizabeth Agatha (Betty) Carrucan was born in Eltham in 1915 and was the granddaughter of Patrick Carrucan who migrated from Co. Clare to Eltham in the 1850's. Betty was born and grew up on the Dalton St farm of her parents Mick and Mary (nee Sweeney) Carrucan and was the only one of her family able to continue with her education, eventually earning a B. Arts from Melbourne University and embarking on a teaching career. This photo shows her as a young teacher in Stawell, country Victoria.
