1946 - Betty Carrucan Basketball team Stawell High School

Career opportunities for women were few in the late 1940s and Betty (Elizabeth Agatha) Carrucan embarked on a teaching career after becoming the first Eltham girl to graduate from Melbourne University. As was the case in those days, her first teaching appointments were in the country regions. She spent a few years at each of Korrumburra, Leongatha, Wangaratta and Stawell.
