He married Anna Maria (Mary) Harrington (1888-1976) in 1913 while studying in Ireland and together, they lived a long life. Dick eventually died in 1966 while Mary continued on until 1976.

He is shown seated on a horse outside the Plenty Pub at Lower Plenty while we think it is Susan seated on the steps with a group of others. As he died in 1907, aged 49, this photo must predate that date.

Mick Carrucan (b 1960) is front left and this photo is taken probably not long before he died around 1942. His wife Mary Carrucan (nee Sweeney) is left back. The lady in the front is her sister Ellen Sweeney who, being sick, came to live at Eltham in the late thirties or early forties. We think the other family are the Brasiers or Braziers who lived for a while in a cottage owned by one of our relatives at Research.

He went to Ireland to study law at Trinity College, taking every prize for which he was eligible in his final year and taking articles at the Inns of Court. Returning to practice in WA, he was known as 'Dick of Dublin'.

She eventually died in 1927 aged 89.

This photo was taken outside the back door of the old farm house which I am sure is fondly remembered by many Carrucan relatives.

The farm stayed in the family until their grandson John Francis (Jack) Carrucan died in 1976. At that stage what remained of the property was subdivided and sold.
This photo is taken from Mt Pleasant Rd, looks across the farm paddocks towards Dalton St and gives a side view of the old farm house.

This was not originally a Carrucan farm but was bought by the Carrucans in the 1850's from a farming family called Ball. The old homestead was on the corner of Bible and Dalton Streets and remained intact and occupied until Jack Carrucan died in 1976. The photo below shows Jack in front of the house. The photo shown was taken in 1966 and shows Jack at the front gate of the farmhouse, facing Bible St. All that remains now is the cyprus tree.

An electrician by trade, he was always pottering on new projects. Even as his heart started to fail, he could still be found in the backyard working on bits and pieces. This photo, taken in the early 1950s, shows him tinkering while convalescing after a heart attack.
