1926 approx - Carrucan photo at Dalton St - Betty in front32 viewsOn the front porch at the Dalton St Eltham farmhouse circa 1926. Mary Carrucan (nee Sweeney) is second from left with her eyes partially closed andher daughter Betty is in the front middle. Ellen (Nana) Sweeney is on the left, then Mary, then Nellie Oliver, then an unidentified schoolgirl, then Nessie (Ellen) Sweeney. We cannot think who the lady in the cane chair might be. It seems possible she is one of the relations on the Carrucan side.

John Francis Sweeney was probably born therein.
The two other figures are Mick Carrucan (who married Mary Sweeney in 1910) and Frank Carrucan, his cousin (who married Kas Sweeney in 1915). We surmise that Frank is either visiting Eltham prior to marrying Kas in December 1915 or they are already married.

1900 circa - Dalton St farm, Eltham - horses and drays at work31 viewsAn old photo given to me by my mother, it shows horses and drays at work in the paddocks of the family farm in Dalton St Eltham, circa 1900. This farm, owned by Michael Carrucan, stayed in the family until the 1970s when my uncle Jack died and it was split up and sold.
The horses were the most important pieces of machinery available and teams and drays were prized possessions. My uncle Jack kept two beautiful drays in his sheds long after the horses had gone. He could not bear to part with them.

1960s - painting of Dalton St farm30 viewsPeter Cuffley explains the origin of this painting of the Dalton St farm in Eltham: My brother's great friend, Peter Hurry, who grew up in a mud brick house on a property down Sweeneys Lane, rang me the other day to arrange for me to send one of my books to his friend Hamish Knox, son of Alistair Knox. While visiting Hamish at Christmas Hills, Peter noticed a painting on the wall of a familiar place. 2010 - Fr Frank ORegan chalice30 viewsThis article was published in the July 2010 edition of the Diocese of Sale newspaper 'Catholic Life'. It was the Sale Diocese in eastern Victoria where Father Frank ministered for so many years, from 1949 to 1985. The chalice, donated by Frank's family, is still in use now and provides a fitting reminder to his years of service to the Catholic community of so many parishes in that region.
