1966 - Jack Carrucan at Dalton St Eltham farmhouse29 viewsPatrick Carrucan's block was in Dalton Street in Eltham. This was not originally a Carrucan farm but was bought by the Carrucans in the 1850's from a farming family called Ball. The old homestead was on the corner of Bible and Dalton Streets and remained intact and occupied until Jack Carrucan died in 1976. The photo below shows Jack in front of the house. The photo shown was taken in 1966 and shows Jack at the front gate of the farmhouse, facing Bible St. All that remains now is the cyprus tree.

While at University, she taught her father Michael to read and write. She studied each night under the light of a hurricane lamp in the back room of the Eltham farmhouse and encountered considerable resistence within the family.

Thus the house was pulled down when the property was split up and sold after Jack's death. What a shame!

This photo was taken outside the back door of the old farm house which I am sure is fondly remembered by many Carrucan relatives.

1994 July - Brother Pat Smith27 viewsyles Patrick (Pat) Smith (1935 -) entered the Christian Brothers' Juniorate at 15 and subsequently taught in various States in Australia and in New Zealand. Due to his health he eventually moved north and worked as a pastoral associate in Charleville, Queensland and then in Texas where he celebrated his Golden Jubilee in 1999. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 2003, and has now retired to Toowoomba.
