1900s_carrucan_farm_-_horses_and_drays_at_eltham.jpg
1900 circa - Dalton St farm, Eltham - horses and drays at work149 viewsAn old photo given to me by my mother, it shows horses and drays at work in the paddocks of the family farm in Dalton St Eltham, circa 1900. This farm, owned by Michael Carrucan, stayed in the family until the 1970s when my uncle Jack died and it was split up and sold.
The horses were the most important pieces of machinery available and teams and drays were prized possessions. My uncle Jack kept two beautiful drays in his sheds long after the horses had gone. He could not bear to part with them.
