THE CLEMENTS FAMILY
The Clements line came into effect when Kathleen Carrucan (1906-1992), the youngest daughter of Michael and Margaret Carrucan, married Bill Clements in June 1935. This family line may be traced as follows:
Peter Carrucan (1835-1895) and Hannah Woods ( - 1920) ↓ Michael Martin Carrucan (1866-1954) and Margaret Lynch (1868-1956) ↓ Kathleen Carrucan (1906-1992) and William Espin Clements (1905-1986) ↓ Margaret (b 1936), Mary (b 1937), Kathleen (b 1940), Kevin (b 1942) and Patricia (b 1946) |
With 5 children, the Clements line was destined to grow quickly and it has produced a very strong and large lineage with Clements, Hammond, Murphy and Griffith family members.
Margaret married Geoff Hammond and they have 2 children, Roderick and Lawrence Hammond
Kathleen married Grahame Murphy and they have 4 children, Brian, Claire, Rowan and Laura Murphy
Kevin married Alies Van Beelen and they have 2 children Phillippa and Andrew Clements
Patricia married Alan Griffith and they have 5 children Sarah, Ian, David, Martin and Gavin Griffith.
Margaret, Mary and Kathleen were the first of the Australian relatives to visit the Carrucans in County Clare, in 1965. Their younger brother Kevin then went in 1969.
All five children have contributed to our Carrucan book and are all actively involved in the wider family on the Melbourne front.
