THE O'HALLORAN FAMILY

The O'Halloran line came into effect when Kathleen Calnin, the youngest child of James and Anne Calnin, married Matthew O'Halloran on 5 March 1953 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne.

According to their marriage certificate, Kathleen was 34 years of age when she married and Matthew was 39 years of age.
Kathleen was a clerk who resided at 43A Normby Road, Caulfield, Victoria and Matthew was a civil engineer who resided at 40 Fairholm Grove, Camberwell, Victoria. Thanks to their son James for this photo from the wedding day.

This family line may be traced as follows:

Patrick Carrucan and Mary (nee O’Brien)

Bridget (1858), Michael (1860), Susan (1862), Patrick (1864), Thomas (1866), Mary Anne (1868), Catherine (1869), Margaret (1871), Frances (1872) and Anne (1874)

The youngest child Anne (Babe) married James Calnin in 1897

Maurice (1897), Clarence (1898), James (1901), Mary (1904), John (1906), Susan (1909), Thomas (1910), Edward (1913), Margaret (1915) and Kathleen (1919)

The youngest child Kathleen married Matthew O'Halloran in the early 1950s

Anne (1953) and James (1956)

It's amazing to think that the O'Halloran line comes from Anne, the youngest of 10 children to Patrick and Mary Carrucan and thence to Kathleen, the youngest of 10 children to Anne and James Calnin. This does give some idea of the size of the very extensive Patrick line.

Kathleen and Matthew had two children, Anne Loretto O'Halloran (born 1953) and James Matthew O'Halloran (born 1956). Thus Anne and James are great grandchildren of Patrick and Mary Carrucan.

Matthew died at Camberwell on 3 March 1961 and Kathleen died on 14 December 1969 while their two children were still of school age.

In turn, Anne and James have married and now have their own families.

Anne married Graeme Crook in 1973. They have 2 children, Matthew Thomas (1977) and Trevor Frederick (1979).

James married Mimi Cass nee Djordjevic  in 1983. They have 2 children, Benjamin Cass (1977) and Katherine O'Halloran (1988).

The O'Hallorans are one of the huge number of family lines that form the complex web of the Carrucan family.
