DIRT POOR SPIRIT RICH

It was way back in the early 1990s that the possibility of a book on
the Carrucan Clan was first mooted. At that time, far sighted family
members started to capture the memories of the older generations and to
source stories far and wide. Thank goodness this was done for now many
of the key contributers have passed on yet their memories remain with
us in written word and photo.
In 2004, the sesqui-centenary (150 years) of the first Carrucan
emigration
from Ireland to Australia, a family reunion was held in Melbourne where
it was hoped to have the book ready for publication. Alas, it was not
to be and we had to be content with the publication of a substantial
Family Tree document,
entitled DIRT
POOR ~ SPIRIT RICH: VOLUME II
In 2010, we embarked on the next stage of our work to complete the
outstanding family
history book which was to be entitled DIRT POOR ~ SPIRIT
RICH: VOLUME I
The process has finally been completed and the book, now simply
called DIRT POOR
SPIRIT RICH, was released for sale on Sunday 26 June 2011, via
Lulu Publishing Enterprises in the
United States (www.lulu.com).
All orders are done via the internet but it's not as bad as it
sounds because your books will be printed at a locally based printer
and posted locally. And the more books you purchase, the cheaper the
total cost becomes. Here are some comparisons done for various sized
book orders. Note that all monetary amounts quoted on the website are
for the US dollar.

If you live in America, this is your cost. If you live in Australia,
your cost ends up being slightly less because the Australian dollar is
currently trading above parity against the US dollar. If you live in
the United Kingdom or New Zealand, your cost will also vary from the
above once you factor in your exchange rate but hopefully it will still
be an affordable book price.

Instructions
Please note that the version of the book now on LULU is an updated
one with various small corrections, some additional photos and some
additional information. The book has grown from 402 to 414 pages but
the cost remains the same as advised above. You can check it out here
(it will take a while to download
as it if quite big): Book-2011-07-18.pdf
Note that the material at hand has far outgrown a single book so
this
website is to be used to house all additional materials. It is
envisaged that as time goes on, further information will be gathered
here. The publication of the book is not the end of the process. There
is always more research to be done and more new family lines to be
investigated.
