Bridget Carrucan and John Coleman had seven children:

Martha (1858)
Peter Vincent (1860)
Benjamin (1861)
Bridget (Bertha) (1864)
Margaret Kate (Maggie) (1865)
George Hollick (1867)

Bridget (Bertha) Coleman (1864 – 1947), born at Eltham in 1864, was the fifth of John and Bridget Coleman‘s children. It is not known how she and Gerald David Martin (1862-1930) met. Gerald was a miner, a son of John Martin (1829 - 1907), also a miner, and Rebecca Lacey (1832 - 1916) who had married and settled in the Buninyong / Yendon district near Ballarat.

Bridget Carrucan (1833 - 1901) and John Coleman (1811 - 1886) ↓ Bridget (Bertha) Coleman (1864 - 1941) and Gerald David Martin (1862 - 1930) ↓ Lil, Ted, Jack, Connie and Rita

The Martins had five children, all born in the Ballarat district.

Lilian (Lil) Bertha (1896-1984) married George Stodden
Edwin (Ted) Gerald (1897-1978) married Lillian Martin
John (Jack) Herbert (1899-1977) married Eileen Grant
Constance (Connie) Mary (1902-1938) died young - not married
Rebecca (Rita) Winifred (1905-1989) married Ernest Waller

The Martin line have been very active in our family history quest with Jim and John Martin and Ken Waller contributing signficant amounts to our ever expanding knowledge base.
